FIREFOX 3
info update from pahau
In case you’re wondering, there will be no instant automatic update from Firefox 2 to Firefox 3. Automatic updates from 2 to 3 will be released quite some time from now. Why? Because this is a major software update, and many Firefox 2 users may not want to update to Firefox 3. Firefox 3 is also not compatible with some operating systems, such as Windows 98. The same thing happened when Firefox 2 was released - There was no automatic update from Firefox 1 to Firefox 2 for quite some time after the release.
Also, Mozilla are trying to get the world record for the most amount of software downloads in 24 hours with Firefox 3. I’m not sure whether automatic updates would count towards the download total, but that might be another reason for the absence of the automatic update.
So, the only way to get Firefox 3 for the time being is to download it manually from the Firefox website.
Got Firefox 3? How is it? Please leave a comment.

I’m using FF3 since the last beta was released and all i can say is wow. The upgrade was easy as 123, the bookmarks and the saved passwords were transferred without issue.
The only inconvenience was that none of the installed plugins i installed on FF2 worked n FF3. There seems to be a great incompatibility issue with the respective plugins as not even the plugins like the Google Toolbar was able to work on it. Since then the google team which maintains the toolbar released one (or more) updates and now it works, but other big software developing firms’ toolbars like Real Media’s or Adobe’s are still don’t working under FF3.
Anyway, the overall performance, look and feel of FF3 is great. I think the coders from Mozilla did a great job with this release. Congrats.
